4 Indicators to become Effective Military Leader
Military leadership is, well, leadership that arises out of the military or from militaristic principles. Military leadership is discipline-oriented, principled, and can be aggressive, while at the same time, very respectful, honorable, and scrupulous. Largely rand — based it is the process of getting the mission accomplished through the influence of subordinates through the concept of mission, honor, duty, and sacrifice.
Chain of command is the word of the day every day in the military. There is no such thing as complaining, trying to jump rank or commit a coup. These things are not taken lightly, again the order is the buzzword. This is the reason for the starched shirts, and shirt holders, the shined shoes, and sparkling spotless whites. It is to denote a spotless discipline.
Specified, Directed, and Implied are the three types of duties entrusted to a military leader. They must accomplish the mission while caring for and taking care of those entrusted to their leadership. Military leadership is more than just ‘the mission.’ The mission in military leadership takes on many forms, the overall securing of the objective, the developing of the men, the ensuring of their safety, and the care given to embodying the right spirit and representation befitting of an officer.
