Service-Oriented Leadership asks How Can I Serve You?
Service-Oriented Leadership is a form of leadership that says, “How can I help you?” “What do you need?” “How can I best serve you?” Service-oriented leadership is a newer form of leadership that is despised by many organizations as not being profit-driven. However, many bottom-line businesses have found that Service Oriented Leadership is the answer to profits and sustainability in a world of unpredictability.
Some may think that Service Oriented leadership is a weak form of leadership, as the older regime or most recognized regime in compliance led or a top-down form of leadership. Service-oriented leadership is a creative form of leadership as it must always renew itself to serve its adherents better and better.
An easy way to think about this is an organization or a leader seeing its employees as their first customers. The services-driven industries are this form of entity. So, as an Executive Coach or Organizational Consultant, I am always thinking of how can I best serve my client? What do they need? What is going to help them the most? This is why if they are truly driven to succeed they will never leave, or always come back, as I am always using cutting edge research to serve them at the highest level and provide answers to questions they haven’t even come up with yet or did not realize that they had.
